Pastoral Plan for the Diocese of Belleville – Servants on Christ’s Mission
The Diocese of Belleville continues to move forward with the pastoral plan, Servants on Christ’s Mission, first initiated by Archbishop Michael McGovern during his time as Bishop of Belleville. This important plan was developed to help strengthen parish life, deepen faith, and renew the mission of the Church throughout southern Illinois.
Today, Bishop Godfrey Mullen is continuing the work of implementing this vision across the diocese, encouraging all parishes to grow together as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ.
The pastoral plan identifies four fundamental priorities for the Diocese of Belleville:
- Youth and Young Adult Initiative
Reaching out to young people and helping them encounter Christ, grow in faith, and become active members of the Church. - Family Life
Supporting and strengthening families as the foundation of the Church and society. - Faith Formation
Providing opportunities for lifelong formation in the Catholic faith for children, youth, and adults. - Revitalizing Parish Life and Ministry: Growing God’s Family
Renewing parish communities through prayer, evangelization, stewardship, and active participation in the life of the Church.
As members of St. Anthony Catholic Church, we are called to participate in this mission by growing in our relationship with Christ and serving one another with faith, hope, and charity.
