Bishop McGovern to Celebrate Mass on July 25th

Our parish has been part of a pilgrimage of the Sisters of St Francis of the Martyr St George. They picked St Anthony’s as part of their pilgrimage because Fr Bernard Hilgenberg, who was the parish priest at St Anthony’s back in 1924 sponsored this order of nuns when they first came to the United States from Germany. The Sisters immigration documents actually listed Beckemeyer, IL, as their destination. Due to the sisters current ministry work, they split their order into 3 separate groups which therefore includes three separate visits to St Anthony’s for mass. Their first visit was on May 23rd. Their second visit will be held on Jun 21st. Their final visit will be on July 25th. We are honored to announce that Bishop Michael McGovern will be presiding at the mass on July 25th. Mass time will be at 8:30am with a breakfast social to follow in the parish center. It is not often we get the opportunity of having the Bishop preside at our parish for mass. Therefore, we would love to see as many of you that can make it to mass that day to show our support for the Sisters and the Bishop. You will also be given the opportunity to hear more about the Sisters ministry and their ties to St Anthony’s parish.
