Ministries

As a member of the parish, you are invited to involve yourself in a ministry. Those listed concentrate on ministries associated with Mass and liturgical functions. There are other ministries such as the Ladies Sodality, Money Counters, Committees such as Building and Grounds Committee. While not everyone feels comfortable being a lector, usher, etc. please join us with being involved in some aspect of ministry in our parish.

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Eucharist

• Practicing Catholic and age 18+
• Trained by parish trainer
• Distributes Holy Communion during Mass
• May help with taking Communion to homebound/sick
• Retrain every 3 years
• Certificate from Bishop

Lector

• Prepares and reads 1st and 2nd readings during Mass
• May at times read petitions and or announcements

Acolyte

• Must be 4th grade or older
• Receive parish training
• Will usually serve Sunday 9:30 AM Mass
• Can also be scheduled for holy days/holidays

Adult server

• May serve when children not present or funerals

Usher

• Helps seat people when needed
• Takes up collection
• May be part of Offertory procession

Greeter

• Welcomes people to our Church
• Hands out programs for special Mass celebrations

Bell ringer

• Rings bell prior to Mass

Choir

• Choir sings at Saturday and Sunday Mass
• Attends practice

Sacristan

• Prepares for Mass
• Sets up altar, water, wine, hosts needed for Mass
• Lights candles, prepares chalice, cloths for Mass, etc.
